Flashback Friday: Doug Funnie

So Vinnie and I were talking about everything we missed about our childhood that we wish were still around today. One of the first things we talked about were the cartoons on Nickelodeon that we grew up watching such as Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, and of course Doug (only the Nickelodeon version, the Disney version doesn't count). I remember eating dinner so fast on the nights Doug was on so that I could clear my plate and sit down in front of the television. I was so ready to see what adventures Doug, Skeeter, and Patti Mayonnaise were going to get into that night.

He was a shy, insecure preteen who was often misunderstood but his friends always had his back. He would get lost in his imagination, where he is the most creative. Do you remember The Beets, the band he and his friends were obsessed with? I remember thinking that The Beets were an awful name but his dedication to them was outstanding!

Doug was just such an amazing show with a simple premise that really captivated the audience and hopefully helped them to relate someone who was going through middle school, a tough time regardless if you are a cartoon or a person. He was a faithful TV friend and I wish he was still on at 7 on Fridays.

What cartoons do you wish you could still watch from your childhood?

Happy Friday!
